REPRESENTING AFRICA, YEMI ALADE THRILLS WITH "SHEKERE" FOR GLOBAL CITIZEN CONCERT

Representing Africa for the "Global Goal: Unite for Our Future" concert on June 27, African powerhouse diva Yemi Alade brought the house down with her performance of her smash hit "Shekere".

Performing with a full band and dancers, the Afro-pop star hit every note, all while looking fabulous in a halterneck top and shorts set with puffy sleeves.

The "Global Goal" event intends to shed a light on communities disproportionately affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Alade was joined by Miley Cyrus, Shakira, J Balvin, Jennifer Hudson, Coldplay, Usher, Justin Bieber and Quavo, Christine and the Queens and Chloe X Halle on the virtual stage.

Following the massive success of her fourth studio album "Woman of Steel" and the praised visual for "Shekere" which featured multiple Grammy Award winner Angélique Kidjo; Yemi Alade gears up towards her fifth studio album with the release of "Boyz".

"Boyz" is a racy up-tempo affair produced by Vtek, and marks Alade's first official outing for 2020 and starts a new era for the diva. The  Africa championing diva celebrates the male gender on the new high octane number. 

"Boyz" gets a colourful, and performance charged music video which stars Afro-pop star Seyi Shay and is directed by Paul Gambit. Yemi Alade is currently finishing up her untitled fifth studio album slated for a 2020 release.

VIDEO PREMIERE: YEMI ALADE, ANGELIQUE KIDJO - SHEKERE

Multiple award-winning African pop diva Yemi Alade premieres the visual for "Shekere". "Shekere" which features multiple Grammy award winner Angélique Kidjo, was birthed upon a personal request by Kidjo for Alade to revamp her classic "Wombo Lombo", heavily samples elements from the original updated to the current mainstream Afro-pop sounds.

"I dey hear the sound of a tambourine o, Talking drums and shekere combination, I see people under the tambourine o, Dancing like sey there's a celebration"; Yemi Alade emotively sings before progressing into a stellar duet with the iconic Angélique Kidjo who also sings in her native Benin dialect over the groovy DJ Coublon orchestrated instrumentation.

The cinematic visual for the praised number opens up in dramatic sequence which displays the authentic and unapologetic beauty of the African continent, a theme which has dominated in Alade's artistry and has made her hailed as Africa's championing artiste of her generation.

Effyzzie Music diva Yemi Alade has scored a new feat with her internationally acclaimed number "Johnny‘". The Clarence Peters directed music video for the Selebobo produced single which led her acclaimed debut album King of Queens", has officially crossed the 100 million views mark on YouTube.

This achievement makes Yemi Alade the first female African artiste and the second African to record over 100 million views on a single music video. The iconic music video also has the Amarelis Atelier designed dance attire displayed in the “Sounds of Africa” section at The Grammy Museum.

The excited singer shared the news to her ever loyal fans on social media. She thanked the fans for always supporting and promised to do more in 2019. Yemi Alade is reportedly working on her fourth studio LP, which is expected to arrive this year.

YEMI ALADE PRESENTS - "THE BLACK MAGIC TOUR DOCUMENTARY"

Rebel Movement presents a new documentary detailing highlights from the U.S leg of Yemi Alade's "Black Magic Tour", in support of her third studio album of the same name.

The documentary sees the award-winning performer aided by her Ova Sabi band in actions as the thrilled at the Essence Street Style Fest in New York, Alade's headline concert in Houston as well as her award win and stint at the 2018 edition of the Annual African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).

The documentary also highlights a few challenges faced when touring outside the African continent. The docu-clip is both informative and entertained.

BUM BUM VIDEO

The self-styled “Mama Afrique” debuted on mainstream music with her 2012 sleeper hit titled “Ghen Ghen Love” which was followed by series of impressive records including ‘Bamboo’ and ‘Johnny.’ The latter became a viral sensation across the continent and it shot her to International prominence as one of the leading female singing exports from Africa.

Yemi Alade recently released her third studio album titled “Black Magic” to add to her portfolio which previously included two albums and an EP. She takes pride in the wealth of African music elements in her music and her strong identity of an African female royalty. Yemi Alade has been described as a strong voice out of Africa and she leaves no doubt about that on her new release.

The track “Bum Bum” is a dancehall fusion song produced by V-Tek, ans has been gaining serious momentum since it first surfaced on the tracklist of Alade’s third LP.
